About Overweight and Obesity

In recent WHO report, experts found there are 300 million people having obesity problem worldwide and almost 1 billion who are overweight. These findings may not sound as a surprise to us as we can easily notice our generation is facing weight problem nowadays. Our kids love fast food and junk snacks. We do not like to exercise and rather stay home being as a couch potato. All these unhealthy lifestyle contributed to our overweight problem.

Obesity is a serious issue which should not be overlooked. It will put us on the risk of coronary heart disease and stroke. Overweight people are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes if compare to people who has normal weight. Besides, obese tend to associated with several types of cancer and disease.

The main reason of overweight and obesity problem is due to unhealthy diet and lack of exercise. Most of the people love fast food which contains very high calorie. Soft drinks, cocktails, wine and spirits also contribute excess fat in our body. Majority of the people does not like to move their feet and do exercise. Some people may have genetic problem which cause overweight issue. All these factors put us on the risk of obesity.

So what we can do to avoid being obesity? First, we should watch our diet by taking more fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains. Try to consume more organic food instead of processed food and maintain low fat plus high fiber dietary. Besides, we should also do physical exercise at least 30 minutes, 3 times per week. We can do cardio workout like jogging, swimming and cycling. Some overweight people may found they have difficulty to ride a bicycle due to balancing problem. This can resolve by riding a tricycle instead of a two wheeled bike. Riding on a tricycle will still give you a great lower body workout and burn excess body fat.

Overweight and obesity had been identified as a major culprit for certain health problem and cancer. We should take care of our health seriously and maintain BMI and body fat percentage at healthy level.
