Beijing Beihai Park
Beihai park is one of the most popular parks in the town of Beijing. Early at the 10th century, the dynasty of Liao built a secondary imperial residence here, Yaoyu called or jade small island. It covers an entire surface of more than 68 hectares, more than half of it is taken by the lake. The small island of Qionghua was built ground dug outside of the lake, and the rocks used to pile up on the hill were brought from Kaifeng, province of Henan. During the dynasty of yuan, the place was rebuilt three times, and Guanghandian or the palate in the moon where Kublai Khan employed to live and many other buildings of palate were built on the hill. It was in this palate that Kublai Khan received Marco Polo. Unfortunately it was destroyed. The small island became the center of Dadu and is always located in the middle of the modern of Beijing.
The dynasty of Ming saw more construction and of restoration: the five houses of dragon and the screen of Nine-Dragon on the bank of the north of the lake and much of houses and galleries were set up during this period. Of white Dagoba, the visitors can have an excellent point of view of the five houses of dragon being held on the opposite bank of the lake, with the coloured ferries-boat travelling in the two directions between the shores. During the reign of the Qianlong emperor, construction lasted during 30 years. The project included many other houses, halls and terraces which made the park much more harmonious in the middle of design.
The provision of the park is based on an ancient Chinese legend. According to the legend, there being three islands with in the east of the compartment of Bohai were supposed where the gods lived. One of them was called the island of Penglai where a kind of medicine of sweet herbs developed, that was supposed to prolong the life. The first emperor of the dynasty of Qin wanted to live fovrever. He sent people to the islands to seek the medicine of longevity, but failed.
The Wudi emperor of the dynasty of Han also wanted to live an eternal life. It ordered that a large swimming pool is dug at the bottom of its palate, achieves three artificial hills to represent Penglai and the other islands. Thus these legendary hills were built in the Eastern capital of Luoyang during the dynasty of Sui and also in the capital of dynasty of savour of Chang ‘. A so traditional model of the gardening was followed during the dynasties of success and the park of Beihai was built after this traditional model.
