Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt’s beautiful wife Angelina Jolie has joined on the list of stars who have had mastectomies as she revealed she underwent a preventive double mastectomy to void breast cancer earlier this year. The actress, director and mother of six children decided to go public about her procedures that began in February and concluded on April 27, 2013. Ms. Jolie was followed by CNN “Early Start” co-anchor Zoraida Sambolin, who has just announced she has breast cancer and will undergo a mastectomy. The 47-year-old mother of two broke the news while she discussed Angelina Jolie’s decision to have the surgery as a preventative measure on Tuesday morning. Miss Samolin, who is engaged to White Sox General Manager Kenny Williams, told her viewers that she is scheduled to have the surgery on May 28. She is opting for surgery similar to Jolie’s.

Zoraida Sambolin is scheduled to undergo a mastectomy on May 28, 2013. She said that she did not know how to tell viewers that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer until Angelina Jolie gave her courage and an opening.
Another star who was diagnosed with breast cancer is Australian songstress Kylie Minogue. The pop icon had the shock diagnosis in 2005. She endured surgery and chemotherapy as well as spent much of her time being treated in Paris, where she lived with her partner, actor Olivier Martinez. Miss Minogue revealed that her battle with the disease seven years ago still affects her every day.

Angelina Jolie, Zoraida Sambolin and Kylie Minogue are not the only celebrities who have faced the potentially deadly health crisis. Sharon Osbourne, the TV presenter of “America’s Got Talent,” once battled colon cancer and had both breasts removed after finding she carried the BRCA gene that increases the risk of developing breast cancer by up to 85%. She then underwent a double mastectomy in 2012 when she was 59.
Meanwhile, “Up all Night” star Christina Applegate was also diagnosed with cancer in her left breast in August 2008. The 40-year-old “Married With Children” alum was offered the options of either radiation treatment and testing for the rest of her life or removal of both breasts. And she finally underwent a double mastectomy, followed by reconstructive surgery a few months later.
Sharon Osbourne spent £155,000 on the gene tests and after the test results, she decided to have a drastic double mastectomy in 2012.
Christina Applegate was diagnosed at age 36 that she had early-stage breast cancer in one breast. Like Angelina Jolie, the actress opted to undergo a double mastectomy.
