People of modern times have become more conscious about how they appear and present themselves to the world. Dental surgery is any medical procedure involving artificial modification of teeth. It can repair and correct things like tooth loss and severe dental problems and hence one of the most important part of medicine.
Earlier a visit to the dentist was restricted to the cause of disease of the teeth (root canal treatment, tooth extraction, problems in the gum or any other kind of oral treatment). With the advent of time people have realized the importance of having a “perfect set of teeth”.
The procedures that falls under dental surgery involve all problems related to dentition which needs medical treatments. Some of them are root canal treatment, where the tooth pulp is completely taken out and then restored and teeth whitening, where the stained teeth are brightened and restored. Dental surgery is also a boon to elderly people as natural tooth loss is common at their age and thus the dentures fitted into their mouth help them eat the regular food and enjoy their life. Over the last few decades there has been an immense growth in dental procedures. Now with the help of modern technology, everyone from celebrities to corporate personnel opt for dental surgeries to enhance the way they look. Dental surgery also comes to rescue when people meet with an accident. Chipped or broken teeth not only invite infections but are also very painful.

Lasers are used to remove cavities, recontour gum tissue, perform frenectomies, desensitize teeth etc. Cosmetic dentistry has also gained enough popularity among the masses. It is done to enhance one’s external appearance – to make their smile beautiful, warm and inviting.
From celebrities to janitors, from actors to regular college going teams, looking ‘good’ and more importantly looking presentable has become an integral requirement in every walk of life. But undergoing a dental surgery does not only mean enhancing your beauty but it also ensures safety from many oral bacterial infections. So in order to safeguard our chances to make it big in life at least the preliminary defects that might turn out to be major obstacle to survive in this cosmic world, a little bit prevention and attention is needed.
