The Disneyland versus Disney World debate has always been a major topic among people who have gone or are planning to go to these theme parks. Some would favor Disneyland as it is the original park that Walt Disney built. Others, meanwhile, go for the latter for its massive size. Below, you will find information that gives you a close look of the two popular homes of Mickey Mouse.
Disneyland
When Walt Disney planned to create a family park, he originally wanted to have it on an 8-acre stretch of land in California. Construction started in 1954. A year later, it opened its doors to the public. However, this size proved to be too small for his dreams. Today, this park covers a large spread of 180 acres.
It is composed of the following sections: Main Street USA, Adventureland (featuring the remote jungles of Africa and Asia), Frontierland (featuring the pioneer days of the American frontier), Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. Some attractions are exclusive to this particular theme park include Alice in Wonderland, Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, Sleeping Beauty Walk-Thru, Submarine Voyage, and Matterhorn.
Disney World
Following the big success of the original park, Walt Disney wanted to build something much bigger, something that is beyond any person’s wildest dreams. That’s when he purchased a 27,000-acre piece of land in Florida where the Disney World was constructed. When Walt Disney died, his brother Roy changed the name of the theme park from Disney World to Walt Disney World. Today, the park spreads to more than 30,500 acres. It is 30,000 acre bigger than the original theme park.
Here, you will find the Magic Kingdom is a much grander scale. The theme park has Disneyland sections like the Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland. But all the attractions are bigger and more spectacular. Even the castle at the entrance of Disney World is much bigger than the one in Disneyland.
Apart from the old attractions, additional attractions were constructed. These include Epcot, Disney’s MGM Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach. Epcot was divided into two sections: Future World and World Showcase. Attractions exclusive to Disney World include cable cars, Legend of the Lion King (puppet theater), Galaxy Search (Tomorrowland theater), and Hall of the Presidents.
If you are going to plan a trip to this theme park, you can choose to stay in Disney Condos that would give you an enchanting experience. You may also opt to stay in Kissimmee Vacation Homes so you can save money. So which one is better?
In terms of scale and magnitude, Disney World would have to win hands down. But it does not automatically say that it is better. Disneyland has the original magic and historical essence being the first Disney theme park built. This cannot be recreated by size. The answer is actually up to people who have gone to both parks. Whatever your choice is, one thing stays the same and that is, you will always have a grand time when you’re inside the House of Mouse.
