2010 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 11 June to 11 July 2010 in South America. This will be the first time that the game has been hosted by an African nation. Many teams go into the World Cup looking to reaffirm the region’s position and are hoping to win the game. For unexpected reasons including injury, some players miss the tournament. Others are lucky to have the opportunity to join the games and brighten their names. Andrea Pirlo, an Italian World Cup winning footballer, plays for Serie A Clu Milan and the Italian national team. He has been praised for his inventive play and considered as a free-kick specialist.

Roque Santa Cruz, a Paraguayan football striker, is now playing for English Premier League club Manchester City and the Paraguay national football team. In June 2009, it was reported that Santa Cruz underwent a medical at Manchester City.

Felipe Melo, a Brazilian footballer, currently plays as a defensive midfielder for Juventus F.C in the Italian Serie A. He made his first appearance for Brazil in a friendly match against Italy in February 2009.
