Huge Crater Appeared in Germany
Early on Monday morning, people in the town Schmalkalden in eastern Germany heard a loud noise. A giant crater which is about 20 meters deep appeared in the street. The gaping hole “swallowed” up a car. Luckily, no one was hurt. Several houses nearby had to be evacuated and officials warned that more earth could collapse around the crater. Regional officials said that about 10,000 to 12,000 cubic meters of soil had been slipped. Authorities said the phenomenon happened because of natural factors. The region is easy to be crashed down because of its unstable geological structure.
