(17 Sep 2017) A week ahead of the German election, Chancellor Angela Merkel held a special press conference in Berlin – for children.
150 children were invited to attend the event. The children, all aged between 6 and 14, were given the chance to ask Merkel questions for nearly one hour on a subject of their choice.
The questions covered subjects from environmental themes to what would she still like to do in her life and what is her favourite food and sports.
Responding to a question about a special moment in her life, the Chancellor answered simply “meeting my husband”.
Asked about her personal hopes and dreams for the future, Merkel replied: “There are two things I would like to do and that is a longer journey – one would be to USA and the Rocky Mountains and the second to take the Trans Siberian Train through Russia.”
