Movie Nominiations and Awards for The Truman Show

The Truman Show is a film about the reality show surrounding the life of Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey).  Truman’s reality show is a bit different however because he has no idea he is part of the show.  Truman’s life and surroundings are completely scripted, down to the weather, which is controlled within the dome that covers his city.  Truman’s life is broadcast all day to a faithful following of viewers across the country who have watched Truman grow up.  Now that Truman is an adult he starts putting together the pieces of his world and discovers that things are not quite as they seem.  As Truman beings to discuss life outside of his beautiful city, the actors around him including his wife, Meryl Burbank (Laura Linney), do everything they can to convince him that there is nothing to see out there.  Truman’s curiosity and passion to explore get the better of him and he demands his freedom.  Truman finally discovers what is truly important which is portrayed beautifully in the final scene of the film.
