Srinagar: Terming Srinagar shootout in which three suspected militants and a policeman were killed as fake, president of opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that the coalition government in the state has failed at every level.

“This is a cold blooded murder and the government should be hold accountable for this. Their own member Parliament Shariq sahib has termed it a fake encounter and has demanded it a fair, impartial probe. This is a best example of their failure in the state,” Mehbooba said a press gathering here.

“The situation in Kashmir is worsening day by day. The people in the valley are in the great trouble and the government isn’t able to anything. Police and Army are trying no stone unturned to annoy the innocent Kashmiris,” she added.

About the Union minister and patron ruling National Conference, Farooq Abdullah remarks about AFSPA and POTA in Kolkata seminar Mufti asserted.

“Farooq Sahab said that he is proud of AFSPA and POTA, you can yourself imagine if such is the mentality of the persons of the ruling NC, what will they do with the impartial probes and enquires,” Mufti said.

Farooq had supported AFSPA and his admission of having implemented POTA in the state during his tenure in Kolkatta seminar earlier.

Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani had reacted Dr Farooq’s support of “draconian laws” was akin to “confession to crime.”

PDP president also slammed government for curbing the local media and said this will add fuel to the fire.

“Media in Kashmir is under huge pressure; this will worsen the ground situation here. PDP has always a stand about the attrocities inflicted by the NC and its allies,” she said adding

“We believe that Kashmir is a political issue and it should be dealt under its parameters without any human rights violations the state. We demand free and impartial probe in the Qamarwari shootout by the police.”
