Llandudno is the jewel in North Wales’ crown, a wonderful seaside resort, that has managed to evade the traditional british seaside resort decline and remained strong and reinvent itself. As such, there is still plenty to do rather than walk along it’s fabulous promenade. Llandudno doesn’t have the size to do a week or month long excursion, but it does have the size so that you’re not bored on a short break. In this article, I discuss the top 3 things to do on a Llandudno Short Break.

1. Take a stroll along Llandudno Pier

Protuding from the North Shore in Llandudno is the famous Llandudno Pier. One of the few left in the country, Llandudno Pier is in remarkably good condition, and there are a number of shops selling a wide variety of goods. Also on there are a couple of well kept amusement arcades, and a few small fairground rides. You can easily spend anything from a couple of hours to a morning on the pier, and with great places for lunch there’s a lot you can do on Llandudno’s most famous 750 yards.

2. Travel Up The Great Orme

Llandudno’s headland is known as the Great Orme, and is a great (no pun intended) place to spend the day. Beginning by the Kings Head pub, you can jump on a tram at Victoria Station. The tram to take you to the summit of the Great Orme and is the only one of three cable operated street tramways in the world (Lisbon & San Francisco being the other two). Once at the summit, spend a while taking in the stunning views of Snowdonia & the Irish sea, before heading to the Summit Complex. In here you can browse gift shops, have a quiet drink & a bite to eat, or whatever you want to help you relax. It’s a remarkable venue with a lot of history itself. You can also explore a copper mine located a little further down the side of the Orme, but why not check out the cable cars, to descend the other way down the Orme. At the bottom of the cable car run, you can brave a toboggan run or just chill in the Happy Valley, reflecting on an amazing day exploring Llandudno’s famous headland.

3. Browse Mostyn Street

For the shopaholic within you, then check out Mostyn Street to round off your short break. Start at the south of Mostyn Street at the Parc Llandudno retail park, you can browse a range of popular shops including Debenhams, BHS, Topman, New Look & Burtons. Following a browse, head left onto Mostyn street, which features a range of pubs, shops, cafes, eateries & entertainment venues. Slowly meander down Mostyn Street, and try to end the day at the upper part of Mostyn Street, which features a plethora of pubs and restaurants with a number of cuisines, so much so that you can spend the rest of your night there.

All in all, I hope I’ve given you a great guide to make the most of your Llandudno Short Break!
