Which toothbrush do you prefer– an electric or a manual one?
I definitely prefer a manual one, because an electric toothbrush can damage my gums. Anyway, today I would like to suggest something you might think is strange. Use a child size toothbrush to brush your teeth even if you are an adult.
There are 3 reasons that I highly recommend using a child size toothbrush.
1. Softer Bristles
Kid toothbrushes have softer bristles.
The hard bristles of an adult toothbrush can damage your gums. You should be careful not to press too hard on your gums, especially if you are using an electric toothbrush.
2. Reaches to Your Back Teeth
Since the head of a child size toothbrush is smaller, it’s much easier to reach your back teeth.
Your back teeth are the most likely to develop cavities and mouth odor, because the big head of an adult toothbrush cannot easily reach back there. Using a smaller head makes it so much easier to reach anywhere in your mouth.
3. Cleans More Thoroughly
Since a child size toothbrush is so small, you tend to clean your teeth more thoroughly. With the larger head of an adult toothbrush, you might think that all of your teeth are clean, but the bristles are actually just lightly skimming over your teeth, not cleaning them.
In addition to using a toothbrush with a smaller head, use the minimum amount of toothpaste recommended. When there is a lot of toothpaste in your mouth, you might think that your mouth is cleaner than it really is and you don’t clean it thoroughly enough.
It’s extremely important to floss as well. Some dentists say that flossing is more important than brushing your teeth.
For good oral hygiene, quality with right equipment matter a lot more than how long you brush your teeth.
