Ricky Martin Admits Homosexuality

Rican pop star Ricky Martin who was hugely famous for the hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca” has come out Monday and admitted rumors around his sexuality: he is homosexual.

 

According to his statement on Twitter in both Spanish and English, the Latin artist thought that it was his fortune to b a gay man. He expressed his satisfaction by saying that “I am very blessed to be who I am.”

 

The admittance of being gay of Ricky Martin does not seem to make people surprised as there were so many speculations about his sexuality for years. However, Martin never accepted the rumors and hid the truth by usually appearing at events with beautiful women on his arm.

 

The former member of Latin boy band Menudo said that he came up with the decision of revealing the truth while writing his memoirs. The memoirs reportedly helped him realize that keeping secrets would not make him free with himself.

 

Here is what he said on his web site:

 

“A few months ago I decided to write my memoirs, a project I knew was going to bring me closer to an amazing turning point in my life. From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside. Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And this is something worth celebrating.”

 

Martin, 38, said he did not reveal his homosexuality out for fear that his music career would be ruined. The Puerto Rican star was widely well-known after releasing his self-titled English album which included hits “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and “Shake Your Bon-Bon” in 1999. He said on his site that to share with the world his entire truth means he has taken full responsibility for his decisions and his actions.

 

He said that he could no longer hide his sexuality as he is now a father of twin boys who were delivered via gestational surrogacy in August 2008.
